Forensics Near and Far

On the weekend of October 11th, the McNeese State University Forensics Team traveled to Brookings, SD to compete in the South Dakota State University Jackrabbit Joust.

In the individaul events portion of the tournament, Corey Greineisen placed 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking.

The following weekend, a small squad traveled a shorter distance to Houston, TX to compete in the Bayou City Swing, co-hosted by San Jacinto College North and Lone Star College North Harris.

In Houston, the Cowboys welcomed team president Alex Reinauer back to competition and added newcomer Tobiloba Adasofunjo to the list of McNeese competitors.

After a long weekend of speech and debate, Stephen Doerfler II was awarded 9th place in speaker points out of 54 debaters.  Doerfler and Adasofunjo won three of their six debates their first time debating together.

The team will enjoy a weekend off from travel before traveling to compete in the fall TIFA tournament in Kileen, TXfrom October 31 to November 2.

Debating at Rice University

The McNeese State University forensics team concluded their first month of competition with an action-packed weekend at Rice University in Houston, TX from Friday 9/27 to Sunday, 9/29.  The tournament included an NPDA debate tournament and two individual event tournaments over the course of three days.

This weekend witnessed the return of team Vice President A'renica Mumford to competition.  New team member Kyla Standley also began her competitive career.

The debate pairing of Corey Greineisen and A'renica Mumford reached the quarterfinal round on Friday night.  Debaters Morgan Authement and Stephen Doerfler II also earned points for McNeese.

In Sunday's individual events competition, Greineisen earned 8th place in Impromptu Speaking.

The team will enjoy this weekend off before traveling to the South Dakota State University's Jackrabbit Joust over fall break.

McNeese State Forensics Off to a Busy Start

The McNeese State University forensics team started their 2013-2014 competition year early this year with the Swing on the Swamp at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette from September 14-15.  The swing was a venue for returning members Morgan Authement and Stephen Doerfler to begin competition for the year.

Morgan and Stephen represented McNeese in both public address and interpretive events.

Morgan narrowly missed placing in the final round in Impromptu Speaking on the 14th, earning high scores in her preliminary rounds.

Stephen placed both days, earning a 5th place finish in Dramatic Interpretation on day one and a 6th place finish in Impromptu Speaking on day two.

The next week, September 21 and 22, Texas State University-San Marcos and the University of Texas at Austin co-hosted a swing on Texas State's campus.  The team welcomed returning members Corey Greineisen and Cy Vidrine back to competition, as well as new member Jon Hensley to his first rounds.

The team now looks ahead to the Rice University competition this weekend, the 28th and 29th of September.

ST. LOUIS SUCCESS

The team travelled to St. Louis MO to the Gorlok Gala on January 25-27th

Here is how we did:

Stephen Doerfler and Corey Greineisen were tournament champions in Duo Improv and were semi-finalists in Public Forum Debate

Stephen took 8th Place Speaker in Parliamentary Debate

Corey took 7th Place Speaker in Parliamentary Debate and 9th Place in Public Forum Speaker

Davante Lewis was a Semi-Finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking

Rowdy Aggie Classic II Announced

The McNeese Speech and Debate team will once again be co-hosting with Texas A and M University in November 2012. The 2nd Rowdy/Aggie Classic will be held on the campus of Texas A and M University on November 9-11 2012. We look forward to bringing back the partnership that we had before with A and M and bringing a great tournament back to D3.
