Professor David Kay taught night and summer school speech classes at McNeese for 17 years (while also working as an areahigh school debate coach) before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2007. During his high school teaching career he was named Louisiana Speech Teacher of the Year and Calcasieu Parish High School Teacher of the Year and 3 of the students he coached won NCFL national championships (in debate, student congress, and dramatic performance). Since 1971 his long-suffering wife Brenda has kept him somewhat sane, and with her he has raised a beautiful daughter and granddaughter and acquired anOK looking son-in-law.
