She began teaching at McNeese in 2000. She earned a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa and an MA in Radio/Television from Southern Methodist University.

 

Dr. Standley teaches many of the journalism classes at McNeese. She also teaches Mass Communication Theory and Research, Introduction to Mass Communication, and Freshman Foundations for majors in the Mass Communication Department.

Her research interests are the effects of the media on children.

Before earning her graduate degrees, she worked in television news production for the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock newscasts for stations in Texas.

 

In her spare time, Dr. Standley enjoys quilting, photography, and spending time with her family.
